5 ways to transition your wardrobe to spring

Hello and welcome back to The Visual Aspect! Today I am talking about how to transition your wardrobe to spring. I am going to break it down into 5 tips that you can easily apply the next time you are needing to get dressed. Here in Texas, springtime usually means cooler mornings, warm/hot midday and afternoon, which ends in a chilly night. So, it can be kind of a challenge to dress yourself each day. No worries at all! After this post, you’ll be able to tackle that awkward in-between weather moment.

Add in color

If you wear darker colors during fall and winter, adding in some lighter colors will begin that transition to the warmer months. For me, that would be sprinkling in pastel colors here in there and adding in more cream colors. If you are the person that enjoys wearing darker colors year-round, that’s totally okay! Maybe wear some pieces that have a dark background with a lighter pattern on it. I’ll have some examples below!

Lighten up the layers

Trade-in your wools, heavy knits, and faux leather for lighter materials. I like to switch to lightweight sweaters, jersey knits, and breathable cotton materials. Those would be the pieces to start with especially for tops. Styling lighter pieces in your outfit also make outfits super easy to layer once it becomes cooler in the night time.

Shorts and skirts

Another way to transition your wardrobe to spring is to add shorts and skirts to your outfits. I love pairing a lightweight off the shoulder sweater with a pair of shorts and slipping into some mules. It’s the perfect casual outfit to run errands in or go to grab lunch with your friends on the weekend.

When it comes to skirts I midi skirts with a slit or miniskirts. You can also wear maxi skirts because I find that many styles are made with a lighter material. Skirts are very easy to style with a graphic tee, fitted lightweight sweater, or even a basic tee and a jacket layered over it for a night time look. Skirts and shorts are great options to turn to during this transitional season.

Cardigans/shawls are your best friend

Can I get an amen?! When I was younger, the word “shawl” automatically made me think that this item of clothing was for “older” women. Not for someone young and “trendy” like me haha…little did I know that I would own 3 different ones! It is the perfect go-to especially during this raining season and it makes me feel so snuggly wrapped up in one. Shawls come in a variety of styles and colors so don’t be afraid to look around at some options.

As for cardigans, I have a few in my wardrobe that I wear here and there. However, I would rather wear a blazer because it gives my outfit more structure. To each their own, as long as you identify your go-to layering piece for the spring season.

Let your feet breath

Now let’s talk about shoes! My top 3 transition pairs of shoes are white tennis shoes/trainers, slip-on mules, and platform sandals. I have a staple pair that I rotate through starting in the spring all the way through early Fall. I think these are solid options for shoes if you are looking to switch up what you wear. These will be staples that you will get your monies worth:)

Girl, you are about step into the spring season and slay! In a couple of weeks, I will be diving deeper into spring trends and must-haves to add to your closet. However, this will be just enough to get you set up to handle the hot-cold weather for the next month or so. Until next time have a great rest of your week!
