Interview Questions

1. Could you start by sharing a bit about yourself?

I never know what to say with this type of question lol. Can I share what I’m doing? Right now I’m listening to Kendrick Lamar’s The Heart Part 4 and it’s so good that I’m trying to decide if I like it more than the entire More Life playlist. Actually, I guess that’s something about me–I absolutely love music! Going to concerts is my favorite thing to do when I’m not at work or working on the blog.

Oh! I’ll share my favorite TV shows/movies because I’m always interested in hearing this from others. My all-time favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Prison Break, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. My favorite movies that I can think of right now are The Social Network and Blue Valentine.

Related to fashion since that’s why we’re here: I always wanted to have my own clothing boutique. Since brick-and-mortar style shopping seems to be falling to the wayside now, it’s a long-term goal of mine to have a pop up shop and/or online store.

I said I didn’t know what to say and this will probably end up being the longest response lol.

2. Could you tell us about your blog and what inspired you to start one?

My blog has evolved and changed as I’ve grown up over the years. I created a blog when I was in college because I loved watching makeup videos on YouTube. I used to wear colorful eyeshadow looks and wanted a place to keep pictures of my makeup, so I created a blogspot. It was definitely a hobby I would pick up and put down for months at a time. 4 name changes and 2 platforms later, I found my stride with Venti Fashion.

Fun fact: The very first post on my original blog was just me praising Britney Spears for her Womanizer music video. (We were all rooting for her!)

3. Who is your fashion inspiration?

Rihanna, hands down! Simply because her style truly represents who she is. I love that she’s so unapologetically herself and takes fashion risks not for the sake of taking them, but because it’s what she naturally gravitates towards. She’s a true trendsetter without even trying.

I also have a few bloggers/YouTubers that are style inspirations: Danielle Bernstein (weworewhat) because she has a few things that are signature to her style–like pointed shoes and aviators–but still experiments with trendy pieces, Ashley Brooke (itsashbrooke) because we have extremely similar taste so I’d love to raid her closet, and Mattie James because she is super relatable and I admire her style and work ethic.

4. How would you describe your style?

At the intersection of casual and cute. Despite having a blog centered around fashion, I really don’t put a lot of thought into my outfits (unless I’m going to an event) and I’ve found that my style has blossomed because of it. I always ditch an outfit last minute when I overthink it so I just wear what’s comfortable, feels true to myself, and makes me happy.

5. What are your favorite stores to shop at, and why?

Nordstrom, Topshop, Zara, and Steve Madden. I feel so basic for saying the cliche blogger stores, but they really do have the best options if you want something that’s of good quality, on trend, and at a good price. Also, Topshop makes some of my favorite jeans. You can find great staple pieces at those stores.

6. What is an item you splurge on?

Hmm, to be honest I don’t really splurge on fashion items that much. I’m more into splurging on electronics and concerts, but if that changes in the future it would definitely switch to handbags and sunglasses.

7. What is your next fashion must have?

Naturally, I said handbags in the previous question so of course I have a bag as my must-have. My next fashion must-have is #1 on my splurge wishlist: the Chloe Faye small shoulder bag.

8. How do you handle fashion trends? (Do you like to keep up with them or not pay attention to them at all…)

I don’t actively search for fashion trends, but I do keep up with them in passing. I mostly follow fashion brands and bloggers on Instagram, so I naturally start to notice trends just by scrolling through my feed.

9. Do you have any fashion rules when putting an outfit together?

My one fashion rule is I have to feel comfortable. I’m willing to wear uncomfortable heels (because I’ll always bring backup flats), but the clothes are a dealbreaker. Itchy fabric, ill-fitting tops, and anything that makes me feel like I’m wearing a costume rather than wearing my own personality is an automatic no.

10. For my readers that are looking to freshen up their wardrobe, what is a great fashion tip you can share with them?

Mix and match what you have! Sometimes you get used to pairing certain items together and you can fall in a style rut. Add variety without spending a dime by playing around with your closet. Try on several bottoms with a single top and vice-versa. You’ll be surprised what catches your eye!
