Casual Winter Work Outfits 2019

casual work wear outfits 2019

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas! Today I am going to talk about a few ideas on how to transition into winter work outfits. I think this post can be for a casual or more professional environment. Of course, take this with a grain of salt if you do have a strict dress code. I really like fall and winter because you can layer your outfits. It just adds more dimension to your look and makes getting dressed more fun 🙂 I am sharing a few pieces below that you can easily incorporate into your wardrobe, layer it up, and look chic in the office this winter.

Cable Knit Sweater

The cable knit, chunky sweater is a winter staple I constantly talk about every year. It is such a go-to item in my closet and very easy to style. There are styles that hit a little below your waist. Those styles I like to pair with straight leg denim and a pair of ankle booties. Then there are some cable knit sweaters that are a little more oversized. That oversized style I like to size up one size and wear with leggings and OTK boots. The second style is more casual, and the first style could pass in a more corporate environment.

Patterned Blazer

Blazers are the perfect layering pieces throughout all seasons. If you already have a blazer in a neutral color, then I say use this opportunity to expand to other patterns. I recently purchased a blazer that has a herringbone pattern in red. It’s something different in my wardrobe but I like to have that in my closet to keep things interesting. One way to style this blazer is with a fitted sweater underneath, skinny or straight leg corduroy pants, layer some necklaces, and pair with pumps or boots.

Fitted Sweater

Some call it the roll neck if you’re across the pond, but I love a fitted sweater. I used to have a different view when it came to turtleneck sweaters. I thought they looked a little…meh. However, I am a changed woman and think this style of sweater is chic AF. Even if you have or get a crew neck sweater. I love how you can easily pair this with jeans, pants, and skirts. One of my favorite looks is pairing a fitted sweater with wide-leg pants. The juxtaposition of the cut of each clothing is a nice dynamic. You can easily slip on a pair of pumps, wedges, booties. Whatever is comfortable for you! This is a quick and easy outfit for either work setting.

Paper Bag Pants

The paper bag pants are a nice alternative to the high waisted or mom jean style of pants. It adds more detail to the waist and can be very flattering. For me, it has been a bit of a challenge to find the “right” paper bag pants that fit me well. Sometimes they can be a little to snug or baggy in the front part of the pants. However, I did find a great pair at Zara last year that fit me well. I think a great look would be a fitted or slightly loose sweater, tucked into these pants. If you’re in a more casual work setting, I would dare to wear these with a dad sneaker. I love the ones I have from Steve Madden. Or if you’re in a more professional work environment, you can easily pair this outfit with heels.

Leather pants

Leather pants can be a hit or miss depending on where you work, but I think if I can wear trainers to work, I can wear leather pants. I have had a pair from BCBG that I have worn to death but there have been some great, affordable styles in stores lately. First off, the Spanx leather leggings are a great investment. They hug you in all the right places and gives support. They can be a little pricey so look out for those sales and see if you can snag a pair during the holiday season. Zara also has a red pair that I have been keeping my eye on. They are more affordable at about $35. You can find them HERE.

Since these pants are more fitted, I like to balance out my outfits with a looser top. So, in this look, you could pair this with the cable knit sweater. Or even an embellished sweater that a little oversized and tuck part of the front into the pant. Those are just two ways you can make that work and I have a feeling these will be a staple in your wardrobe for sure!
