Hello! I am back after a short break and enjoying the 4th of July weekend. I am super excited for this next blog post because with summer brings trips to the beach! TBH I am not going to keep this specific to the beach but to any body of water, you will be at this summer. Whether that is the beach, the lake, floating the river; I have a list of essentials that you need to have a great time.
I recently discovered Lake Pflugerville which is northeast of Austin because my boyfriend just moved into that area of town. Since we are always looking for fun activities to do up in the north part of Austin, I see lake Pflugerville quickly becoming a hot spot. If you live in North Austin and had no idea this was here (same as me), you can basically take all the activities you can do on lady bird lake and do them at lake Pflugerville. Just on a fraction of the scale and you don’t have the backdrop of downtown Austin. Nonetheless, it was a lot of fun when we hung out here during the 4th of July! So, if you are looking for a new spot to hang out at, there you go!
Okay back to the beach style and essentials that you gotta have. I have been in Target a whole lot more than usual. Target just is not my first go-to spot when I am shopping but I think that will change here soon. One reason being is that they have killer sales! Like I heard about them all that time but now I’m a believer. So, this post is going to have a lot of items from Target, so I’d like to preface that. But they are having great sales on swimwear and basically anything that has to do with beach/lake/river needs. You know like a 10th cute bikini set to add to your swimwear collection.
Dare to keep it simple
I have a variety of patterned bikinis and this season I wanted to find one that was simpler. I went with the red because it was a color I didn’t have yet, and I love how it looked on my skin. It had a simple shoulder strap that could also be crisscrossed in the back if I wanted to. This specific style also comes in a royal blue and vibrant yellow. And the price point is on point at 14.99 apiece. On top of that Target was having a 20% off sale so it was a steal!
Cover-ups are a must with this heat
I love a great cover-up! My favorite is a style that is more of a shawl and super lightweight. That way I can just have my shoulders covered and still show off my cute bikini. Another style is the little cover up I am wearing in the photos in this post. It is super cute and breathable and great for a hot day at the beach.
The bigger the beach bag the more random crap you can bring…like more beer!
I have about 3 trusty beach bags that are my go-to and this one has been added to the list. I love how colorful it is and spacious. It was able to hold a beach towel, book, sunscreen, water, and other beverages…. you get what I am saying. It can hold the perfect amount of beach stuff.
Sandals, Sunglasses, and Sunscreen
I lumped the last couple of items together in a rapid-fire form. First, let’s talk about sunscreen! My favorite is SunBum because they have a great formula and I don’t break out from using it. I love the 30SPF stick for your face and I have one in my makeup bag always. But it doesn’t even matter what sunscreen you use if you use it and protect yourself! I’ll list my favs below
With sunglasses the more oversized the better! I like any version close to an aviator style because that looks the best for my face.
And finally, sandals and flip flops 🙂 I don’t always wear flip flops all the time, but when I do it’s while walking towards a body of water. The ones that are shown here are super cute and very friendly on the pocketbook. Like I said earlier Target is currently having 20% off sandals and swimwear. So, snag these and other sandal options while you can!
