Photoshoot locations in Austin, Texas for fashion & lifestyle bloggers

before strong was beautiful

This post is from a blogger to all the bloggers out there who have a blog or in the blog/Instagram realm. In the post, I have about 31 photoshoot locations in Austin, for fashion & lifestyle bloggers. I know I am not the only one out there who struggles with picking a location every time I need to shoot for my blog posts. Honestly, how many times can I shoot at the domain lol Also If I googled where are the best spots to take photos. It was all about graduation (nope not shooting at the UT tower), engagement spots, or family picture locations near touristy landmarks. All of which is a no for me.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with these locations, it just wasn’t what I was looking for. Although the photo is focused on my outfit, I need a background that would complete the shot. So here I have gathered my list of locations that I have used and are currently using to this day. I have been blogging for three years now and trying to keep content interesting and not redundant can be a challenge. But I am excited to share what info I have gathered over the years. I hope this will help you with your next photoshoot and that you will share with all your other blogger friends and photogs!

Let’s start up north!

North Austin/The Domain

Domain northside to be exact! There are several spots you can shoot in to get sort of lifestyle photos. I lived about 7 minutes away from the domain for over 3 years so I would shoot here a lot!

Lifestyle Setting

  • Nordstrom Parking Garage- Very top level has some amazing views!
  • Rock Rose street
  • Green wall by Apple
  • Outdoor patio area in front of Culinary dropout/Restoration Hardware/Cyclone Anaya

Corporate Setting

  • Domain 8 parking garage
  • Charles Schwab
  • Amazon Building

Outdoor Setting

  • Walnut Creek Park
  • Brushy Creek
  • Domain Central Park
Central Austin

Lifestyle setting

  • The Triangle
  • Kerby Lane Village (This is where Tiny Boxwoods is located! Sunday mornings are the best time to shoot)

Outdoor Setting

  • Mayfield Park- There may be weddings on the weekends so be sure to have a backup location

Corporate Setting

  • 38th and Lamar- This is where Kendra Scott and Snooze A.M. eatery is located. There is some open courtyard space where you can shoot and get more of a corporate setting.

I would park at the Alamo Drafthouse garage and walk around. This whole area is full of spots to shoot. You can get lifestyle/fashion, outdoorsy shots, and more corporate over by the Kerby Lane. This area is a gold mine for bloggers 🙂

  • Hanks Austin is another great spot. It is a restaurant and cafe with a gorgeous patio, with a crisp and white background.
Downtown
  • Austin Public Library
  • Shoal Creek bridge off 2nd street and Nueces
  • Seaholm District- There are a variety of spots in this area! If you go on a weekend go early!
  • 2nd street between Congress and Nueces

  • Fareground-They have an amazing courtyard area. Again, come early especially on the weekends before it gets busy
  • The Line/P6 patio- Be sure to get hotel permission first!
  • W Austin- You can shoot indoors and around near Trace with permission
  • Austin Convention Center area/Fairmont Hotel- Be sure to get permission first for the hotel. However, shooting outdoors off Red River and Cesar Chavez is more than enough 🙂
 South Austin

Lifestyle/Fashion

  • The Carpenter Hotel is so cute! Although you can’t shoot inside you can shoot outdoors with permission
  • South Congress & Gibson- there is a cute courtyard area in front of Impeccable Pig
  • Kendra Scott Flagship store is extremely instagrammable and there are some great spots in that immediate area.
  • Along South Congress near Hotel San Jose and Austin Motel sign. These are a bit more touristy, but this is probably one of my few exceptions to have in the background.
  • Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar/ highball area- park at the garage and you can get some great shots in that courtyard space

Outdoorsy

  • Zilker park
  • Barton Springs

I think this about wraps up my list. You may have noticed that I didn’t include some of the Austin landmarks (Welcome to Austin mural, the capitol, Pennybacker bridge). That’s because those are easy to find just by google. I want to give you a location list that is deep down in the nitty-gritty of Austin. This is a list of places I wish I had when I was first starting out. I have yet to shoot on the east side of Austin, like the east 6th area, or Rainey Street. Hopefully, that will change soon and I will update my list for you all! Until then I hope this brings you soooo much value and that you share it with other bloggers, photographers, or anyone looking for a new spot to shoot.
