4 effortless ways to look chic

How-to-dress-down-5

How to dress down and look put together is something that I strive for daily. To be honest most days I get up for work and I don’t want to have to put in a HUGE effort and thought into what I am wearing. I feel like I am not the only one out there. But at the same time, I don’t want to look like I just rolled out of bed either. Ugh, it is such a struggle sometimes, but I have created some solutions for myself to help during those days.

Working in the tech industry can be a blessing and a curse. A blessing because I can basically wear whatever I want (besides shorts, destroyed jeans, and miniskirts, etc… you know what I mean). However, that isn’t always helpful because some days a uniform would be nice. That way I wouldn’t have to think about what clothes I should put on my body. However, that is not how it is, and I must figure out what to wear each morning.

Today I am sharing with you a few key pieces that help me on a day to day basis. I feel like I have mastered the dressed down but not looking like a slob look. Here are 4 effortless ways you can look chic! So, whether this is for a casual workwear option or just to run errands, hopefully, this post will help you out:)

Neutral pair of trainers/sneakers

This is one way to get athleisure into your wardrobe! Last summer I specifically bought a pair of white trainers that would go with a cute dress, jeans, skirts, etc. It is a nice addition to your usual shoe choices like flats, running, or flip flops. Below I have gathered a variety of white and neutral colored sneakers.

Graphic Tees

I loveeee graphic tees! They are so much fun to wear, and it brings a lot of personality. I feel like this is a way to express yourself and dress down an outfit. I love pair graphic tees with more dressy outfits, like suit sets and skirts. It makes a more serious style or piece of clothing and makes it fun and lighthearted. Zara has been a go-to place for where I get my graphic tees. There are a few other places as well that I linked below 🙂

Medium Wash Mid Rise Jeans

Jeans will always be a staple piece in your wardrobe until the end of time. I suggest going with a medium wash denim because it is a great wash for the spring and summer months. It is a lighter color that will go with many of the light and bright colors happening within your wardrobe this time of year. Of course, it is versatile. Even if you are sticking with neutral and darker colors all year round, this will add a little something to your closet.

The Shift Dress

Recently I came across a cute shift dress from H&M that I ended up purchasing. Reason being that it was $19, and I could wear it in so many settings. It is the perfect length for work, with heels it’s a comfy dress to go have dinner or happy hour in, and just a casual dress to throw on for everyday use. I mentioned this dress in my previous blog post (click HERE to read), where I showcased several outfit formulas for the summer. It is such a staple piece and easy to wash on top of that. This outfit was the vision for this post! I had such a fun time shooting this outfit because this is something I would wear maybe 65% of the time? Pair this with the white trainers as I shared earlier. It’s a great outfit and I can get away with it at work on those casual days. 😉
