Interview Questions
1. Could you start by sharing a bit about yourself?
I am 21 years old and live in Stockholm, Sweden. Love fashion and to travel, whether it’s in the country or out in the world. To sum myself up you could say I love to always have a lot on my plate and that I have a hard time saying no. A good example is that I’m studying full time, while juggling three part time jobs and my blog at the same time! I am a happy and energetic person who tries to see things positively.
2. Could you tell us about your blog and what inspired you to start one?
I’ve been blogging since I was about 12 years old, just for fun, but started taking it seriously 1-2 years ago. I started my first blog because I have always loved to express myself with words and it became an online journal (which no one read of course). In some ways, I never stopped and my interest just grew bigger. I also grew a large interest in photography which made me start taking the blog more seriously. Today I see my blog as both a hobby and a job, trying to come up with great content to inspire and continuously collaborating with a photographer.
3. Who is your fashion inspiration?
Wow, this is a tough question. My first thought was Olivia Palermo, the fashion guru. However, I also take some of my inspiration from Rachel Bilson and Blake Lively. I also must say Sasha Simon (lolariostyle on Instagram). Her outfits are simple, yet they are truly stunning in all its casualty.
4. How would you describe your style?
My own style is, too, quite simple. I believe that’s why I see Sasha Simon as an inspiration. I use a lot of basics, in natural colors. Black, white, grey, beige and sometimes a hint of light pink or navy blue. I usually try to let the accessories highlight the outfit, with a bright color or large earrings for instance. I love the business chic and preppy style and in my everyday life a simple addition could be to wear heels. Basically, I try to keep my outfits cheap and simple and then buy a few more expensive accessories to make it more fun.
5. What are your favorite stores to shop at, and why?
I must say I buy a lot of my basic clothes on H&M, swede as I am. They have a wide assortment of basics to a great price. They might not be of best quality, but it’s easy to buy new clothing without getting a large hole in your wallet. That way I can also afford to spoil myself with a few accessories or cashmere sweaters even if I am a student.
6. What is an item you splurge on?
I splurge differently in different seasons. Now when we’ve had Winter I’ve been buying too many warm sweaters and that’s changing as we go towards Spring, it’s all about blouses! I’m also not allowed to buy anything light pink anymore…
7. What is your next fashion must have?
Anything with ruffles really!
8. How do you handle fashion trends? (Do you like to keep up with them or not pay attention to them at all…)
It’s not at all a must to keep up with the trends in my own style. I am well aware of the trends that are ongoing since that’s an interest of mine, however, I don’t buy things just because they are popular. I try to focus on what I believe could suit me and my personal style.
9. Do you have any fashion rules when putting an outfit together?
Since my childhood, I’ve been careful about mixing bright colors. Especially red and pink together. Another big NO I have is wearing socks in open toe shoes.
10. For my readers that are looking to freshen up their wardrobe, what is a great fashion tip you can share with them?
I would try to find nice basic garments, starting with black or white. You can mix them with pretty much everything you already have in your wardrobe and you might find new life in your old clothes with this tip, which also makes it cheaper than buying everything new.
